FAQs

What is a fertility doula?

A fertility doula is someone who supports people in their fertility journey. Each doula offers unique services. I support women looking to become pregnant with integrated and holistic options, and any woman with overall reproductive health.

Do you perform physical exams?

As your fertility doula, I do not perform clinical tasks. I cannot treat or diagnose specific conditions or concerns for you, or your family or guarantee results. Read more about the scope of my services in my service disclaimer below.

I'm not trying to get pregnant. What can a fertility doula do for me?

Fertility is a measure of health across the entire female lifespan. Hormonal imbalances can have negative effects for many women. Mainstream fertility testing or resources are often only available to women who are actively trying to conceive unsuccessfully. My services fill the gap, so that women at any stage of their life can access knowledge about their bodies and improve their vitality.

I am having [insert negative symptom here], will going on or off birth control fix it?

The suppression of your natural hormones prevents ovulation, making hormonal birth control (HBC) an effective contraceptive. The root cause of your issue could be a hormonal imbalance or an environmental/lifestyle cause, which will not necessarily be resolved by suppressing ovulation. HBC interferes with your ability to absorb minerals and nutrients, and is also responsible for an increased risk of blood clots, heart attack, breast cancer and more. HBC can also have benefits, like preventing certain types of other cancer, alleviating endometriosis pain, and of course avoiding pregnancy.

HBC is often used as a "catch-all" band-aid solution for a lot of women's health issues. It all depends on exactly what your symptoms are, if this option is right for you. Coming off HBC can also be a long process of restoring your body's natural hormonal patterns.

Before making drastic changes or starting medication, I would recommend looking into lifestyle/natural solutions proven to support women's hormonal health.
